    for sure get some, they're super cool! Though the cherry flavor has funky artificial smell about it, its not that bad but I just can't handle that sweet cherry smell. They're perfect for after surgery because apparently whey protein isolate is very quickly absorbed into the body.

    i got the whey protein six star pro nutrition professional strength elite series -chocolate flavor. it smells ok but it tastes? terrible when mixed with water and doesnt mix too well and the 4 scoops they recommend is way too much so i take 1 per day with water

    Weight gainers tend to have alot more complex carbs and fats in them. And whey protein powders concentrate more on the protein content.

    Whey protein is safe. Drink plenty of water since your protein intake will be going up and it will be increased workload for your kidneys. Men have trouble with testicle shrinkage when they use steroids– not when they ingest protein from whey.

Try and space it out and don't drink your whole day's entitlement in one sitting. The generally agreed dosage for protein shakes is 2g per kilo of body weight. So if you weigh 70kg you should consume roughly 140g of protein. The other protein sources you mention are all good. Whey protein is simply a convenient method for obtaining large amounts of protein with minimum effort (i..e cooking).

    If you read bodybuilding magazines or websites they will all tell you different times to consume your protein. In my experience it doesn't make a whole lot of difference, although I do think it's right that you consume protein thoughout the day.

    You can eat raw egg white with minimum health risks.

    Your body does not store protein. So, a protein supplement can only benefit you if your diet is deficient in protein. And, if it is deficient, fix the diet. Eat food.

Just be sure to ask yourself if you ever saw any good scientific evidence suggesting you need 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight or more. The answer will be no. That's a huge myth. And, all the naysayers who disagree with me will not have any good science for you. All they'll have are ads, phony reviews, bogus testimonials, false scientific sounding white papers, bad blogs, scam sites, etc. all paid for by scammers like this one. —>

    I would encourage you to compare the Facts Panels on all of these products. Which contains the most fat, lactose and carbohydrates? Which has the highest percentage of protein per serving? You can easily determine the percentage by dividing the grams of protein in a single serving by the serving size (gram weight) and then multiplying by 100. A good whey protein is going to be 80% pure protein or higher.

    Here's another tip: what ingredient appears first on the ingredients list? If it's a high-quality ingredient like whey protein isolates, you have a good selection in front of you. If it's whey concentrate, then you're paying for fat and carbohydrates. I'm assuming you'd rather have whey protein in your shaker cup.

    Acne, back injury: no. If you're taking the protein to supplement your exercise, the exercise may increase the likelihood of those, but not the whey.

    I'm not sure what you mean by "what does it cause". It is used mainly to assist muscle development and recovery from exercise by providing a quick source of amino acids to the muscles, but a lot of people just use it because it's convenient and healthier to eat/drink than junk food.

    As for side-effects in general, depending on the quality and sweeteners used: gas and stomach cramps are fairly common. And bad breath (because it tends to coat your teeth and mouth as milk does). Just drink a lot of water and use Gas-X or Beano if necessary (it probably won't be). Other than that, it's perfectly safe unless you're allergic to milk or are phenylketonuric (aspartame is toxic for them). If so on the latter, you should know already to avoid anything sweetened with aspartame – plenty of whey proteins are available that don't use it.

    It depends on your overall diet and activity level… If you are eating about 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight per day and doing vigorous workouts you're likely to gain…. if you are trying to lose weight then your overall caloric intake should be low relative to your BMR and you would be fine to take the whey as well.

    I don't know if this helps but I know the juice that forms in the top of sour cream is pure whey protein. Whey is what's left over after making cheese and other dairy products (curds and whey). Cultured might mean that is has the good bacteria that comes in yogurt and sour cream.
